CECILIA JAMES RELEASES HAUNTING AND DIVINE

VIDEO/SINGLE “MY NAME IS TO CALL”

Cecilia James’ new single “My Name Is To Call” is a haunting and divine song of longing and dreamy sounds; it grabs your close attention and brings you to another place, somewhere near the Pacific Ocean, off the breezy coast of central California somewhere. “I love it when you scare me…” Cecilia sings, her angelic voice somehow speaking to your soul as if you knew her well in another life. She swears that she still wakes up to sounds in the night, and she needs to get away. I fear I may wake up to the haunts of her incredible voice, as it weaves and digs and buries its menacing and beautiful self into your mind as the song progresses, temporarily (perhaps) taking possession of your being.

The black and white video introduces itself as a “song and film”, with overlaying imagery of Cecilia singing merged with overlaying vocal harmonies that together birth a numinous quality to the experience. The aesthetics of the video have a vintage feel and peak on creepy with images of Cecilia underneath shrubbery around the 2-minute mark. The implied sense of being underneath, or even buried perhaps, under the weight of circumstance does not escape the viewer. It is as if you are there with her and feel the futility of bothering to move a branch. A sweet interlude turns intense with Cecilia’s eyes taunting the viewer before the final chorus, the hook of the song, comes like a wave to smother and devour you with bliss and painful longing simultaneously. I love it when you scare me, Cecilia. Will I wake to sounds in the night?

My Name Is To Call” is a superb work of art and a wonderful introduction to an impressive new artist worthy of everyone’s attention.

A 70’s fever dream with gothic overtones, Cecilia James’ debut single & music video for “My Name Is To Call”

Dreamy indie folk singer, Cecilia James has released her music video for “My Name Is To Call”. The style of the music video feels like a 70’s fever dream with gothic overtones.

It matches the ever-building nature of the melody, feverish with the ups and downs of the pain and beauty of love.  Her voice echos like Phoebe Bridgers with the soul of Joni Mitchell.

Put your headphones on for this one and drift away.

For her debut single, Cecilia James is not wasting any time in showing her talent. Her voice has the sound of Phoebe Bridgers with the soul of Joni Mitchell.

With her debut single ‘Sonic Baby’ Californian singer-songwriter Cecila James established her highly dreamy and soft style of indie rock. But after a hiatus of sorts, 2021 is shaping up to be the year where Cecilia James ventures forward full steam ahead. In the lead-up to her upcoming debut EP, named Different Ground, this week saw Cecilia James release her gorgeous sophomore single. ‘My Name Is To Call’ carries a noticeable increase in both atmosphere and depth. UNDERGROUND APEX

Cecilia James 'My Name Is To Call' is an Intimate, Haunting,

and Heartbreaking Saga of Lost Love

Cecilia James is a twenty-two year old songwriter and visual artist from Santa Barbara, California. Set to dreamy guitar-based arrangements, her blend of conceptual and autobiographical writing favors nuance over flair and is ripe with a melodic sweetness that allows intimacy to become a calm and sublime feeling.

“My Name Is To Call” is a haunting and heartbreaking saga emphasized by James delicate vocal cadence, which works to great emotional effect, fluctuating alongside the song’s chord progressions to enhance the drama inside the relationship-focused narrative. In these instances, her rhetoric finds joy in the wonder that adorns new romance and comfort in the solace of lost love. James suggests that while the personal differences that often end relationships can be painful, those same conflicts can also be the breeding grounds for immense personal growth.

"My goal is to create beautiful and haunting music, with nods to past eras." Cecilia said, "I write from a very honest and intimate perspective that welcomes people into my world as a young, female musician and artist.
